In 2022, PV module manufacturers in search of higher performance have begun a large-scale move to n-type cell technologies. These have achieved impressive cost reductions, and come with the potential for higher efficiency, as well as stronger performance under low light, high temperature and other challenging conditions, when compared to the p-type products that still dominate the market today.
Among those manufacturers making the switch to n-type is Trina Solar, which launched is Vertex N module series in 2022, and is scaling up production of cells and modules based on TOPCon technology as we move in to 2023.
