Singapore has built one of the world’s largest largest foating solar farms. It is at Tengeh reservoir, one of the country's 17 reservoirs.
Prior to this deployment, Singapore’s national water agency, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) launched a 1MWp test-bed in 2016 at Tengeh reservoir to study the effects of foating solar farms, and conduct environmental studies. The results showed no observable impact on the reservoir’s water quality and biodiversity.
The modules were also tested extensively for performance, quality and reliability. Modules mounted above water operate effciently because the water underneath helps to keep the modules cool.
